Eine Setliste liegt bei Flyte nicht auf der Bühne, Will Taylor hat die Reihenfolge im Kopf. Nach dem Auftritt reißt er aus seinem Textskizzenbuch eine Seite heraus und schreibt die Songs für mich auf.
Die Londoner Band hat mit diesem Auftritt gerade ihr erstes Konzert außerhalb Englands gespielt. Auf der Bühne haben sie sichtlich amüsiert davon erzählt, was für ein Spaß und wie aufregend es war, in einen Flieger zu steigen (Auf ihrer Facebook-Seite schreiben sie: “Many a ‚Taking Flyte‘ joke was made on the plane”). Im Publikum sind an diesem Abend vielleicht 30 oder 40 Leute, die den feinen Indiepop von Flyte feiern. Was war für Will Taylor und Flyte das Besondere des Konzertes? Wie haben sie die Setliste ausgewählt?
Will Taylor (Gesang und Gitarre):
“It was a thrill to be playing to a different nationality for the first time. Getting on a plane and getting here. And the space here. In comparison to London everything is so compact. There’s a venue in Manchester called The Haçienda which is kind of legendary with Joy Division, Happy Mondays. There was a big scene in the 80’s/90’s. Berlin reminds you of what Manchester and London was 30 years ago. It is fresh, it feels like it is happening right now. And it didn’t matter how many people are in the crowd. We’re here, these people are here. It’s fucking great. That was good. It’s funny and I’m not likening us to this band, but the Sex Pistols went out and played in Manchester to a crowd of 20 people. And it was just like punk is gonna to explode. And all the right people were there, it didn’t matter. The less people are better (lacht). The songs we played tonight are the ones the people would know because they are online. We want that the people would recognize the songs and put not so many new things there. But this is a setlist we normaly play. To start with Over And Out because it is the one we put out first. And Faithless as well. And we want everyone to hear Light Me Up which will be our next single.”
